A MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE FROM SKETCH TO....VICTORY!

Under Gelindo Bordin project management and S Contini development, It all starts with:" We need to design a new upper for this model co designed by J.Acevedo and A. Van Noy. for our sponsored athletes" Lets do so with a mindset which integrates the feel of speed  and a certain italian flavour.

In 2000, Spike shoes were generally designed with a traditional distinction in between the upper and the outsole plate. The direction consisted to blend the plate and the upper by reinforcing the forefoot area, where all the strength happens.

The journey in the Manchester Comonwealth games 2002 starred Darren Campbell with a bronze Medal  in 200 Meters

Then the great moment any Active Footwear dedicated person hopes for : the victory of the athlete the whole team is been working for.

England relay 4x100 becomes gold medal, ahead of Asafa powell 's Jamaica and surprising Australia.

A FLORAL SUMMER 2015

Back in the 80's, somewhere in Hawaii Islands is born the floral trend which spread over the world with the democratization of surfing and wind surfing. But I also remember this trend being carried by the unique character
called Magnum, a private detective starring Tom Seleck.

in 1984, someone in Oregon back then did capture this trend......

Later In 2001, as writen above, Adidas presented its first floral decorated shoe  with a Y.Y version of the Adidas TENET.  Below, The Brand Roxy by Quicksilver followed two years later with the floral monochrome.

The trend prevision for 2015 were probably not expecting that level of integration of floral motives by the sport manufacturer leaders.

It is surprising to see 14 years after the first Y.Y shoe, how the gap in between active sports and fashion became
smaller.

One of the first basic market introduction of the floral theme/sneakers by chaussures André.

Can we say 2015 celebrates the begining of the blend of top performance and fashion?

BEFORE AND BEYOND THE ZOOM JASARI

Back to 1996, in the scope of the Olympic games in Atlanta USA, Most of mid distance runner might remember the Nike Zoom Jasary and its distinctive three colors longitudinal split.

The shoes were dedicated to the faster mid distance Kenyan runners under Nike endorsement.

No relation at all with this shoe made 20 years before, somewhere in the 70's, a Female Adidas Sprint spike shoe
And I believe no relation too with this mid distance spike shoe made by Kalenji, a the french running brand available only in Decathlon stores fall 2014.

We can spot here, a repetition regarding a longitudinal color splitted track and field shoe every 20 years. If this is true, We might expect the next one to come around 2034.

The record doesn't tell if the original idea comes from the Jester's outfit.....and why?

AN INSIGHT IN THE KNITTED WORLD (part 1)

The leaders in 2012

How NIKE introduced their FLY KNIT
Did you ever imagine yarn being an high tech design material? Nike Flyknit is an extraordinary new technology to create running footwear by knitting yarns. The idea was to create a shoe whit the characteristics of a sock, that is comfortable fit and light weight but, at the same time they want to guarantee Nike high performance standards. So they enginereed an extra-light polyester yarn in a knitted seamless structure, with different density layers giving specific elasticity levels to obtain a featherweight, formfitting upper.
As Nike stated “The result is precision engineering in its purest form, performance on display. Every element has a purpose: resulting in one of the lightest, best fitting running shoes NIKE has ever made.”
How ADIDAS introduced their PRIME KNIT

The adiZero Primeknit hosts uppers constructed from a seamless engineered technology that were digitally knitted together, providing a flexible, lightweight performance shoe. A first for the brand, the release is limited to 2012 individually numbered pairs, all of which come in a box that features an innovative articulated opening.

I found this as well.

What could be the next evolution of the knit?

THE HIDDEN SIMILARITY IN BETWEEN TWO INCREDIBLE FOOTBALL PLAYERS.

Needless to say, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are naturally skilled football players. they are also known to compete every year for the title of the best football Player in activity.
Both players are particularly fast and unpredictible.

This is the hidden similarity in between the two players....the dimples, the symbole of the perfect aerodynamic.

Why golfballs have dimples?

The reason why golf balls have dimples is a story of natural selection. Originally, golf balls were smooth; but golfers noticed that older balls that were beat up with nicks, bumps and slices in the cover seemed to fly farther. Golfers, being golfers, naturally gravitate toward anything that gives them an advantage on the golf course, so old, beat-up balls became standard issue.

At some point, an aerodynamicist must have looked at this problem and realized that the nicks and cuts were acting as "turbulators" -- they induce turbulence in the layer of air next to the ball (the "boundary layer"). In some situations, a turbulent boundary layer reduces drag.

2015 Lionel Messi goal scoring Weapon..... something noticed? The dimples

The dimples being the symbole of the perfect aerodynamics, there is no question to me why this symbole  has been given to the fastest players in activity.

The story doesn't tell us where they play golf .....if they both play.

THE MAGIC FOAM.

If you were a Runner in February 2013, you heard about this shoe with its new revolutionary foam called BOOST.

Two years Later, February 2015 you might have heard about this new product, promised to be "the best running shoe" since Adidas added 20 % more of this magic foam.
June 2015, I was scrolling down my screen on Facebook till I found ......

The value.

Foam isn't everything to make the best running shoe. Several other factors should be considered of course. It looks more stuffed at the Puma side.
